Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

REMINDER: Event on 3 March

Walk and Talk, stopping to discuss plants seen on route, on Tooting Common, London Borough of Wandsworth,  Saturday 3 March, starting at 10.30 a.m. and continuing for about an hour.   Route to be decided according to the weather and mobility of those present.  For further details see the Events page on this website.

Report: Despite the wet weather about 12 people turned up and spent about 75 minutes walking around part of the waterlogged Common and discussing some of the plants found there, and their histories.  However, as we moved more slowly than expected we did not reach Streatham Woods to see the Balkan anemone; perhaps next year if it’s  not overwhelmed by ivy by then.

‘It was good.’

Image: Balkan anemone, Anemone blanda, in Streatham Woods, Tooting Common, where it has been known since 2015, but is apparently decreasing due to invasive ivy; February 2024.
