Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

REMINDER: Events 12 June

Posted on by royvickery |

Two events on Sunday 12 June, for further details see the Events page on this website:

10 a.m. and continuing for  2-3 hours (but people can drop out whenever they feel they’ve had enough): Plant Survey, in West Norwood Cemetery, London Borough of Lambeth, learning together how to identify and record plants with Amanda Tuke and Roy Vickery.  Booking required.

Report: About 12 people spent a pleasant morning wandering around part of the Cemetery and identifying as many plants as we could.  Thanks to Amanda Tuke who meticulously maintains the list of the species found while doing these surveys.

2.30 p.m. –  c.3.30 p.m.:  Tree Walk, Streatham Park, London Borough of Wandsworth.

Report:  Four people turned up and spent about an hour wandering around the estate, enjoying the variety of trees growing there; we were particularly pleased to see that the mulberry, Morus nigra, tree supposedly associated with Samuel Johnson  (see elsewhere on this site) is thriving.
