Saturday 20 July: Plant Survey in West Norwood Cemetery, London Borough of Lambeth,  with Amanda Tuke and Roy Vickery, starting at 11 a.m. and continuing for c. 90 minutes.

Report:  Although 13 people had booked, rather more turned up, and most of them stayed for the entire 90 minutes.  As usual we had some (we hope) beginners, some people who could identify most plants, and some experienced botanists who led us through the identification of such genera as crane’s-bill (Geranium spp.) and bittercress (Cardamine spp.).  Regardless of how little or how much we knew at 11, by 12.30 all of us had learnt more and felt more confident about identifying plants.

Sunday 21 July: Ecology Walk, Norwood Grove and Gibson’s Hill Field, London Borough of Croydon, with Jane McLauchlin and Roy Vickery, starting at 2.00 p.m. and continuing for c. two hours.

Report:  14 people joined the leaders to spend almost two-and-a-half hours examining plants, especially trees and ‘easy’ grasses, ably led mainly by Jane McLauchlin who not only provided a history of the area, but also shared her in depth knowledge of many of the plants seen.
