Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Rush-bearing, c.1940

Posted on by royvickery |

004We are grateful to Diana Galvin, of Streatham, London, for the loan of a photograph showing:

‘Diana and Nick, Lake District, c.1940, with wreaths for Rush-bearing.’

Diana’s brother, the Nick in this photo, remembers that it was taken at Grasmere, where they were evacuated while their father was working in Chester.
