On the second Wednesday in July each year the Vinters’ Company install their new Master.  The public part of this event consists of a procession along Upper Thames Street in the City of London from their Hall on one side of the street to St James Garickhythe church on the other.  After a service which lasts for about 45 minutes people process back to the Hall via the back streets.

The principal participants in the procession carry posies – said originally to mask bad smells and ward off disease – but in 2023 consisting of white roses (Rosa cv.) and blue eryngo (Eryngium planum).
