According to a brief report in Metro of Monday 24 June 2024, ‘competitors chowed down on nettles [Urtica dioica] to be crowned world champion’ at the Dorset Nectar Cider Farm, near Bridport. ‘Tom Wheeler won the men’s event after scoffing 116ft of nettles in 30 minutes’, and ‘Bethan Hodges, of Barry Island, beat her personal best of 60ft to retain her woman’s title’.
