Like August, September was an exceptionally quiet month as far as the collection of material went; only four items of information were received from three contributors. Thus the Archive now contains 10,379 items from 4,396 contributors.
18 posts were added to the website, but searches of it, and useful correspondence received via it, remained low. Users are again reminded that the website contains only a small amount of the total information which the Archive holds, so additional material can often be supplied on request. It should also be remembered that most of the Blog and Plant of the Month posts should considered to be work in progress; comments and corrections are always appreciated.
Six walks, one plant survey, and one walk were held, attracting a total of c.80 participants.
Two stimulating and enjoyable events were attended: the first day of the Folklore Society’s Legendary Weekend, which had Trade in Legend and Tradition as its theme, in Exeter, and the Society for Folklife Studies Annual Conference, in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. Thanks to Jeremy Harte, who has organised the former for many years, and Steph Mastoris, who has likewise organised the latter for many years.
