All Saints’ [Anglican] Church, Child’s Hill, in the London Borough of Barnet, holds its Christmas Tree Festival from 9 December 2023 until 10 January 2024. 20 trees, sponsored at £90 each, are decorated and displayed around the church. Any funds raised will be divided between the London Air Ambulance, and a fund to repair the church’s roof.

A Grand Opening was held on the afternoon of 9 December, when there were various music performances, refresments, children’s activities and a variety of stalls. Thereafter, the church is open and the trees can be viewed most days of the week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition to the 20 standard, and rather modestly decorated, Christmas trees, there is also a Jesse Tree, a bare elder, Sambucus nigra, placed in front of the altar.  Apparently on each week in Advent the church’s Sunday Club ‘create decorations to dress our Jess tree with the characters who lead to Jesus’ arrival’.
