Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Christmas tree festival, Tooting, 2021

St Mary Magdalene Anglican church, Trinity Road, in the London Borough of Wandsworth held its annual Christmas tree festival on Saturday 11 December, from 4.00-6.30 p.m.  The event featured a ‘host’ (25) of decorated trees, each sponsored by local businesses and organisations, ‘Santa’s grotto and storytelling by twinkling treelight for the children, children’s activities, model trains, family fun, seasonal stalls, festive teas, and mulled wine’.

There was also an ‘Odd one out decoration contest – if you look carefully you will see, an odd decoration on each tree’, but few people appeared to be participating in this.

A good number of people of all ages, but predominantly young families, queued for admission and enjoyed the afternoon.
