Following our note on sustainable church flowers posted on 3 September 2022, this flower arrangement, one of several in Ripon Cathedral, North Yorkshire, compromises by having a mixture of presumably ‘permanent’ artificial flowers (such as the cornflowers, Centaurea cyanus), dried material (such as opium poppy, Papaver somniferum seedheads) and inserted fresh flowers (such as sunflowers, Helianthus annuus).
