July was another active, but unexceptional, month.  29 items of information were received from 27 contributors, 24 of them new.  Thus the Archive holds 10,372 items from 4390 contributors.

Three events were held, attracting c.40 participants.  Particularly enjoyable was a talk at Stuart Road Allotments in Peckham.

Visits were made to the Covent Garden Rent Ceremony and the Italian Church Parade, both in London, and Claygate Village Flower Show.  A trip was also made to Oxford, to see the Ashmolean Museum’s excellent exhibition, In Bloom: How Plants Changed Our World (on until 16 August).  For anyone interested in how people interact with plants it was noteworthy that 90% of the exhibition visitors were female.

Searches of the website remained stable, and useful messages received via it remained small.

One minor publication was produced:

Cemetery Plants: Deadnettles, Lamium spp., Friends of Brompton Cemetery Magazine, 86: 8-9 [due to an editorial error, this was published under the title ‘Cemetery Plants: Primrose, Primula vulgaris‘].
