According to the Sun of 27 June 2013 a seven-year girl has ‘struck it lucky when she found an ultra-rare five-leaf clover in woods at Horton, Somerset.’ The ‘woods’ habitat seems to suggest that her plant was not, in fact, a true clover (Trifolium), but it’s difficult to guess what she found.
The belief that four-leaved clovers are lucky is widespread throughout most of Europe and North America, but does anyone have knowledge of five-leaved clovers being lucky? Perhaps they are too scarce to feature in folklore.
