Lion dance in Northampton

Posted on by royvickery |

On the afternoon of 29 May 2022 Ding Tea – Taiwanese Bubble Tea, in Gold Street, Northampton was formally opened.  A display of flowers and cakes was placed inside the shop’s entrance, and at 2.30 p.m. there was a lion dance on the pavement outside.

The lion was offered four or five small citrus fruit which were placed on the pavement, and a lettuce, Lactuca sativa, suspended above the shop’s entrance.  The lion ‘ate’ the fruit, but later ‘spat’ them and small toys out towards onlooking small children.  Later it ‘ate’ the lettuce, and it too was ‘spate’ out.  Finally a banner reading ‘May wealth come pouring in’ was unfurled.
