In 2022 Orthodox Christians celebrated Palm Sunday on 17 April, the day on which western Christians celebrated Easter.

Twigs of olive  (Olea europaea) for worshippers’ use at entrance to St Mary’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camberwell, London Borough of Southwark.

Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God, Ennismore Gardens, London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, small posies of an Myrtaceous shrub and baby’s breath, Gypsophila paniculata, tied with green ribbon.  A few of the worshippers inside the packed church carried branches of  dried flowering willow, Salix.

 

St Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church, Kensington, fresh palm fronds available at the back of the church for making into crosses and other ornaments.
