Collecting the folklore and uses of plants

Plant-lore Archive: May 2021

Posted on by royvickery |

May was an exceptionally successful month for the collection of material, with 136 items of information being received from 84 contributors, partly as a result of the online talk contributed to the Festival of the Great North Wood.  Thus the Archive now contains 8821 items of information from 2921 contributors.  Thank you everyone.

A number of walks were held mainly for the Friends of Wandsworth Common and the South London Botanical Institute.

The publishers reported on 13 May that 4,014 copies of Vickery’s Folk Flora had been sold.  So far no publisher has been found for the book on English plant-names.

One minor publication was produced:

Cemetery Plants: Bracken (Pteridium aquilinum), Friends of Brompton Cemetery Magazine 71: 14-15.
