A 27-year-old man in Milford Haven, south Wales, has died after drinking a home-brewed tea made with crushed poppy seeds. Four years ago another local man died in similar circumstances:
‘Wild poppies [Papaver rhoeas] can legally be picked … to make teas. During the 19th century it was a widespread practice throughout the country and, according to studies, is in the midst of a revival, especially during the summer months.’
