Roy Vickery will be speaking on Weeds or Resources? – Uses and Folklore of Common Plants to the University of Westminster Complementary Medicine Society, at the University’s Cavendish Campus, on Wednesday 20 February, from 4.30 p.m. For further details see the Events page on this website, or contact w1496443@my.westminster.ac.uk
Report: 35 people, mostly women, booked to attend this talk, which consisted of about 75 minutes discussing the uses and folklore of various common plants. Amongst these was goosegrass, or cleavers (Galium aparine), which according to members of the audience if you drink it (its juice?) instead of water for 100 days (some people said less) you will attract a 100 suitors. At the end of the talk people were encouraged to contribute their memories and knowledge, but rather disappointingly only four people did so.
