Statue of St Albert of Sicily, also known as Albert of Trapani, (c.1240-1307) carrying a lily (Lilium), in Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church, Dublin.  Albert, who  joined the Carmelite Order when he was 18,  became a gifted preacher and a miracle worker, led a life of remarkable austerity.  He is sometimes depicted as carrying a lily, said to be refer to his struggles to maintain a chaste life during his early years in the Order.
