On 21 June 2016 several newspapers reported that for the first time since 1967 the summer solstice coincided with a full moon, a strawberry moon.  This moon is said to have been given its name by the Algonquin-speaking people of North America, who believe that it marks the start of their strawberry (Fragaria spp.) gathering season.  The next such moon will occur in 46 years time [London Evening Standard, The Times].
