In Wandsworth, south London, flower stalls which usually only appear at weekends appeared on Monday 13 February and Valentine’s Day. There were not a great number of bouquets of red roses [Rosa cv.] on sale, but red flowers were predominant, or standard bunches of mixed blooms had red hearts on red sticks added to them.
Many men, but no women, were seen carrying bunches of flowers.
