50th World Conker Championships

016The  50th World Conker Championships were held at Southwick, Northamptonshire, on Sunday 11 October 2015, when a good number of people turned up to watch the championships and associated attractions, including the Peterborough Morris Men, Tap ‘n’ Sync stepdancers and the Samba Bandits band, on a brilliant autumn day.

Adults competed in the main area while elsewhere there was a smaller children’s competition.  At the end of the competition six finals took place:  three children’s finals for different age groups, the woman’s final, the men’s final, and a final in which the winning woman competed against the winning man.  Despite her skillful and agressive playing Amy Farrow from London lost to Steve Prescott from West Sussex, who became the overall champion.

Over the years the Championships have raised almost £407,800, most of which has been donated to charities for the blind.
