Chinese New Year Celebrations, London, 2026

The Chinese New Year was celebrated in Soho, London, on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February 2026.  The Sunday event was not so unpleasantly crowded than usual.  Lettuces (Lactuca sativa) were hung at the entrances to businesses waiting to be eaten by lions, but no citrus fruits were offered to them, although small citrus – Calamondin – trees were placed outside some premises.

‘Peach’ (Prunus mume) blossom was scarce, though one restaurant in Gerrard Street, and one in a nearby street, displayed artificial blossoms.
