Clan badges: yew

A card in the Raphael Tuck & Sons Scottish Clans, series II; posted from Barnsley, Yorkshire on 2 January 1908 to an address in Liverpool.

The Fraser.  The founder of this clan is supposed to be of French descent dating from 790.  They have always played a prominent part in Scottish history.  The chief is Lord Lovat, and the family seat Beaufort Castle, Inverness-shire.  The title was attained in 1746 after the Stuart rising, but was subsequently revived.  Their war cry was ”Castle Downie” and their badge ”Yew” [Taxus baccata].
