Norwich’s annual commemoration of Edith Cavell took place in the cathedral’s grounds on Saturday 12 October 2024, the anniversary of her execution in Brussels in 1915.

The event consisted of a short procession of British Legion standard-bearers and head nurses from local hospitals to the site of Cavell’s grave, where the city’s Lord Mayor and other dignitaries were waiting to lay wreaths, and clergy waited to conduct a short service.

After the wreaths had been laid and dignitaries had left, the nurses gathered around the grave for photographs to be taken.
